The article computes rainfall erosivity indices for the state of Rio de Janeiro from 84 weather stations, using the EI30 index — widely used in the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) — and kriging interpolation. Results show annual rainfall between 1,000 and 1,800 mm, with about 76.4% of the territory showing “very high” rainfall aggressiveness (Fournier index > 160) and erosivity ranging from 1,750 to 15,000 MJ mm ha⁻¹ h⁻¹ yr⁻¹, peaking between November and March — the period that requires the most attention to soil conservation practices.
