The article investigates how large wood deposits influence sediment dynamics and flow in a low-order stream on the southern Brazilian plateau. The results indicate that these structures can cause channel incision, cross-section constriction and the formation of sediment bars, increasing upstream flow complexity — effects that are particularly relevant in forested streams, where large wood plays a central role in the hydrological, geomorphological and ecological dynamics of the system.
