The study investigates how different social groups perceive large wood in Brazilian river corridors, using a photo-based questionnaire answered by 437 respondents and assessing four perceptual dimensions — naturalness, aesthetics, risk and need for intervention. Large wood was often associated with flow obstruction and flood risk and rarely recognized for its ecological function; environmental professionals showed greater acceptance of these structures, and landscape context influenced perceptions as much as the presence of wood itself.
